Welcome to Wildhaven - where the wildlife is protected and loved.  I am honoured to be allowed to walk with these beautiful creatures.  We visited the valley where the water meanders through the areas previously inhabited by little ones lost in the fires. The area is hard to recognise now, the trees are smaller the bush is thicker; the grass is longer and much more lush and green. Many trees are the same size as the little kangaroos.  The paths made over years by kangaroos are now overgrown and new paths have to be made. Walking in the bush is not as it was, but then so much will never be the same.

We walked and listened to the bush sounds. We were gone for a few hours and the little explorers were happy to be back.

The little ones are growing and still love a bottle on a chilly morning before our walk starts.
Sometimes it is hard to let go of the bottle as you can see in the pictures.  We set off shortly after sun rise, sometimes the kangaroos lead, sometimes I lead.  As their Mum, I can show them where to go, where it is safe to roam and they understand and follow.  I only need to show them once and they never forget.  I do not go near roads or fences; we stay where it is safe for Wildlife.

Over the years we have released many koalas.  In the 1940's the koalas were lost due to hunting.  After Black Saturday we had not seen any koalas, but in August 2010 we heard a Koala call from way up in the burnt trees.  He looked well, stayed a few days and we hope he is still close.  He was in the area where we had released them some years back.
